Most recently by making bridal shower invitations for my sister's shower.

<img style="display:block; margin:0px auto 10px; text-align:center;cursor:pointer; cursor:hand;width: 320px; height: 214px;" src="http://4.bp.blogspot.com/_IBk9LXMmGhU/S8r5YZCuHkI/AAAAAAAAB-A/XuKRP9xiUNI/s320/IMG_1954.JPG" border="0" alt=""id="BLOGGER_PHOTO_ID_5461451695574621762" />
I have a couple of upcoming projects on the horizon and hope that making the time to complete them will allow me to continue making time to scrapbook on a more regular basis. When I look back on all that I accomplished last year, I am amazed. I had always thought that as the kids got older, I would have increasing ability to scrapbook but this year has been just the opposite.

In order to get out of my "rut", here are some observations of the things I would like to change...

1- I have only been to 1 crop since August. Now, I was never much of a "crop scrapbooker" to begin with, however in early 2009 I started going to them about every 6 weeks or so. And in the process of preparing for a crop, I would make page kits and print photos, so even after the crop I was prepared to finish pages at home pretty quickly.

2- I have been letting the kids use my scrapbook space for coloring & crafts With my youngest taking an interest in markers, we had to find a 'safe place' for him to do that and for some reason, my scrapbook table was cleared for that purpose. I recently needed the table for something else and took it down. The kids' stuff has managed to be relocated, freeing up my scrapbooking space again.

3- I have not uploaded photos to Kodak Gallery since last summer Yikes! When I started using Facebook to share photos, I got away from uploading albums to Kodak Gallery. I used to do this on a regular basis to share them with my family - and it made it very easy to print them when I was preparing to scrapbook. I have nearly 9 months to catch up on, but started doing it again in March after my daughter's birthday.

4- I have not planned specific projects to work on Last year, in the height of getting things done, I scheduled time to complete specific projects. Whether it was a week to make a mini-book for the teachers, a weekend to make layouts for a class or just a few hours one evening to make a page to submit to a magazine call, I had it on my calendar.

So there are at least 4 of the contributing factors to decreased production. Next up - changing the pattern!Kristinhttp://www.blogger.com/profile/09313961867770737287noreply@blogger.com1tag:blogger.com,1999:blog-7507725789441451830.post-87564571536392128272010-03-20T18:33:00.002-04:002010-03-20T18:40:08.359-04:00The Great OutdoorsI think spring is here. Well, it isn't quite official yet, and we will probably still get one more snowfall, but after a week of 50+ degree weather it sure feels like spring. I have been getting ready for the nice weather by pulling out the summer clothes and shopping for the items needing replacing. And I have been getting out some of the summer picture from 2009 and getting them scrapped. To see what I have been creating, check out my guest post at Right at Home Scrapbooking.

Next on my to do list are bridal shower invitations, but after that I plan to start posting goals and challenges to get cracking on the major backlog that has been piling up!Kristinhttp://www.blogger.com/profile/09313961867770737287noreply@blogger.com1tag:blogger.com,1999:blog-7507725789441451830.post-18349690364354223322010-03-15T21:21:00.002-04:002010-03-15T21:34:03.098-04:00I'm Back!I know, I have been a bit delinquent. Not just about posting, but scrapbooking in general. I guess I was a little burnt out after making the end of they year teacher and coach gifts. Combine that with a new school schedule in September which left very little creative time and I barely picked up a pair of scissors for the last 4 months of 2009.

Not to worry though, my creative juices are flowing again! In January, I cleaned out my scrapping stash and sold a bunch of the things that were cluttering my creative process at a scrapbooking yard sale. I had a great crop night at the end of January, completing 8 pages - yay!

Then at the end of February, I was asked to do some design work for a local scrapbook store. Boom! Instant creative burst of energy. I am back in the swing of things and looking forward to sharing some of my latest projects. Hooray!Kristinhttp://www.blogger.com/profile/09313961867770737287noreply@blogger.com2tag:blogger.com,1999:blog-7507725789441451830.post-75098605852072298312009-07-27T18:25:00.006-04:002009-08-16T14:04:12.377-04:00Baby Album Class<img style="display:block; margin:0px auto 10px; text-align:center;cursor:pointer; cursor:hand;width: 320px; height: 210px;" src="https://blogger.googleusercontent.com/img/b/R29vZ2xl/AVvXsEhxLRALith53RjjKQy5CNm6qOa_AyOYwIp9awVmjirWCFkGskWAU76VbSZ_brCYoDvJUgwjPzWl0PYxbUHyNKlRvPYZdNpTf6K88N8ltAeXNaoNMRMOH-jsFh3wTcW_W0VcPepuYIw9UuA/s320/100_8870_1.JPG" border="0" alt=""id="BLOGGER_PHOTO_ID_5363270279266862242" />

Join me for a Little Sprout album class where we'll create an album in just a few short hours that will include a year's worth of memories. I have only been mildly motivated since my marathon week of teacher & coaches gifts. I got a lot done that week but got minimal sleep, so it took a little while to recover!

During June I did finally cross out a couple layouts on my "To Do" List though. I created two birthday layouts for a class, which was my May Challenge. I still can't say I am caught up on birthdays, as Cameron just celebrated his 2nd in June, but I am getting closer!

"Birthday Girl" - Daniela turns 2
<img style="display:block; margin:0px auto 10px; text-align:center;cursor:pointer; cursor:hand;width: 320px; height: 310px;" src="https://blogger.googleusercontent.com/img/b/R29vZ2xl/AVvXsEh0MliYxV9S-xnMkfIRG24fuuRa0Z3tHerJLnawL9m_gKVfe2IT5J5VuNEs-z3moMhZt00N-mZE8H9ioDlzIykxoSRNSZJd4uJg0U3tj_LgfnUd9ywHlAHhyphenhyphen3VkTgemArT-lxlHwkb-JGo/s320/100_9275_1.JPG" border="0" alt=""id="BLOGGER_PHOTO_ID_5358650295306057442" />
"Four" - Daniela's 4th Birthday
<img style="display:block; margin:0px auto 10px; text-align:center;cursor:pointer; cursor:hand;width: 320px; height: 314px;" src="http://1.bp.blogspot.com/_IBk9LXMmGhU/Sl3AD4MW1SI/AAAAAAAABIc/BYq1Osum9Us/s320/100_9279_1.JPG" border="0" alt=""id="BLOGGER_PHOTO_ID_5358650304497112354" />

Layouts created with papers from Collage Press & letters by Pink Paislee, all from Right at Home Scrapbooking.Kristinhttp://www.blogger.com/profile/09313961867770737287noreply@blogger.com0tag:blogger.com,1999:blog-7507725789441451830.post-31505439728498309312009-06-30T23:40:00.007-04:002009-07-02T00:09:14.374-04:00Is it Summer Yet?I have to say, with all of this rain it hasn't really felt like summer lately! I am teaching two more classes this month! I am pleased to say that when coming up with the designs for both of these classes, I tried to touch on themes that people can easily identify with. I was able to check things off my "To Do" list and hopefully so will you!

In the first class (Sketches) we will be doing a 2-page layout designed to highlight several events during a school year, sports season, etc. and a strawberry-themed 1-page layout. Like last month there will also be a handout of sketch variations given out in class.

In the second class (Sweet Shoppe) we will do 3 layouts. This collection is particularly good for birthdays, Easter & ice cream pictures, but can also be used for other everyday photos as you will see in class.

If you want to see the layouts in person, stop by the stores for a peek. *Please note that these classes are at two different locations.* And don't forget to tell me you are coming!

Here are the class details. They are also in the blog sidebar for future reference. I don't always get to them right away, but sometimes it is the thought that counts! So with that, here is my June Challenge...

Create layouts about the technology in my life.

Lately I have seen cool layouts in magazines using Facebook status updates and using a "screen shot" to make a page about blogging, etc. So, since those are major parts of my everyday life, I think they should be captured in my scrapbook for future generations to see. Perhaps someday my grandchildren will laugh at how primitive technology was "way back in 2009"...

And stay tuned, if I get all of my class materials and teacher gifts created, I might just get to one of those old challenges...Kristinhttp://www.blogger.com/profile/09313961867770737287noreply@blogger.com0tag:blogger.com,1999:blog-7507725789441451830.post-10273170085320262912009-06-02T00:04:00.006-04:002009-06-02T00:21:06.714-04:00"Weekend Creative" ProjectTwo weeks ago, while following along with Ali Edwards' Weekend Creative project, I documented our activities for one weekend. Lots of photos were taken - even a couple of them by Daniela, so I could be in them.

I took this opportunity to try some hybrid scrapping... using traditional paper methods along with new digital ones. The layout is primarily paper scrapping, but I did use Photoshop Elements to add the words "Saturday" & "Sunday" (from Designer Digitals) to two of the pictures before printing them. It was a learning process, but now I think I would be able to do it again without much difficulty. Yet another new technique to pull out of a hat from time to time.

Here is my layout. Click on it for a closer look :)
<img style="display:block; margin:0px auto 10px; text-align:center;cursor:pointer; cursor:hand;width: 400px; height: 208px;" src="https://blogger.googleusercontent.com/img/b/R29vZ2xl/AVvXsEglBx4YNr7DTojcSW_qM2JIcS15g725-ljfWSAUWwYToG9aS6OxciAuU420lbVdxChXDFzrwSsEAR2WIesQa3GAphe2jom_M8K0HeAekjR8IzL3oMqCULLXg7rS3-wEDjdbBg7Hzq5Kk3s/s400/IMG_1265_1.JPG" border="0" alt=""id="BLOGGER_PHOTO_ID_5342578872437416530" />Kristinhttp://www.blogger.com/profile/09313961867770737287noreply@blogger.com1tag:blogger.com,1999:blog-7507725789441451830.post-13591140223763838142009-05-30T22:29:00.011-04:002009-05-30T22:54:26.261-04:00Design Team Peek & Other NewsIt has been a super busy week!

On Wednesday I taught my first Sketch Class at Times to Treasure. Before class I was worried about having enough time to finish, but instead we finished early! Personally, I think early is better than late, but next time I think I will try to do more.

I spent my Friday evening creating a fun 2-page layout for the Scrapbook Cupboard using the newest line from Scenic Route, "Garden Grove". I love how it turned out! Here is a peek, stop by the store to see the whole thing. The Scrapbook Cupboard is participating in the Summer Stroll discount program, which is great reason to check it out if you haven't been.

<img style="display:block; margin:0px auto 10px; text-align:center;cursor:pointer; cursor:hand;width: 214px; height: 320px;" src="https://blogger.googleusercontent.com/img/b/R29vZ2xl/AVvXsEhmJJZQjAlne6_rmet41x0w8y1-7p2R8M9WbTS-_8JlZjcu0aH5xg6yJWvW1S5dGWJTYOPa5WhZGLw7v_t875gRdZiGot0RU-SIX_HPUJpspRKGKO0G4HKIC5ZFP4pxbAppi6iHTdZi0Lc/s320/100_8955_1_1.JPG" border="0" alt=""id="BLOGGER_PHOTO_ID_5341810892145362450" />
And in between, I have been sorting through my stash to prepare for tomorrow's Yard Sale at the Scrapbook Cupboard. I have several boxes of stuff ready to go! Stop by & say hi!

Next week will be even busier, as I am preparing demos for some upcoming classes that I can't wait to announce! Oh - and trying to find time to put together teacher gifts! Ahhh... where does the time go!
.Kristinhttp://www.blogger.com/profile/09313961867770737287noreply@blogger.com0tag:blogger.com,1999:blog-7507725789441451830.post-11913991841558280652009-05-26T17:56:00.005-04:002009-05-26T18:04:52.300-04:00Eco-friendlyRemember this layout I posted for Earth Day?

<img style="display:block; margin:0px auto 10px; text-align:center;cursor:pointer; cursor:hand;width: 320px; height: 306px;" src="http://3.bp.blogspot.com/_IBk9LXMmGhU/Se8LmlmXyfI/AAAAAAAAAoQ/IpDpBNoL0q0/s320/100_5275_1.JPG" border="0" alt=""id="BLOGGER_PHOTO_ID_5327489641758575090" />
Well, I am excited to report that it won an Earth Day contest sponsored by
Scrapbook Calls and Paper Trunk. Tonight I created another birthday book for one of Daniela's friends.

<img style="display:block; margin:0px auto 10px; text-align:center;cursor:pointer; cursor:hand;width: 320px; height: 240px;" src="http://2.bp.blogspot.com/_IBk9LXMmGhU/ShB4ZHL3DLI/AAAAAAAAAsM/ne-6SEBoQDQ/s320/100_8766.JPG" border="0" alt=""id="BLOGGER_PHOTO_ID_5336897931254893746" />

And I am snapping away, and even getting the kids to help, for my Weekend Creative project. I think I'll do a 2-page layout with the pictures, though I typically stick to single page layouts to keep my albums from getting too thick. I downloaded the freebies from Designer Digitals and might even make a point of doing a hybrid layout to expand my horizons... more on that later :)
.Kristinhttp://www.blogger.com/profile/09313961867770737287noreply@blogger.com1tag:blogger.com,1999:blog-7507725789441451830.post-33958941606016534212009-05-15T08:11:00.002-04:002009-05-15T08:22:01.112-04:00Projects for the WeekendThis week was a "planning week." I often have a planning week when I can't take out all my projects due to space or time issues. So I spend time with my magazines, my sketch book and at my computer looking through pictures. I plan different projects, put sticky notes in my magazines, order photos and sketch out ideas for future layouts.

After a week of planning I am looking forward to tonight, because after the kids go to bed I am going to "get messy." Yes, scrapbooking involves a lot of creative mess when I do it. No matter how hard I try, I end up with stuff everywhere :)

Then I am going to document my weekend. As usual, Ali Edwards has a great Weekend Creative project posted and I am going to play along. I think this will be a perfect weekend for it.

TGIF!
.Kristinhttp://www.blogger.com/profile/09313961867770737287noreply@blogger.com0tag:blogger.com,1999:blog-7507725789441451830.post-14587965596601213842009-05-12T11:53:00.004-04:002009-05-12T12:37:17.122-04:00Kid of the Week!Daniela is Kid of the Week on the Kids Can Scrap Blog. I made a 2-page layout for a magazine submission, did two design team projects (1 layout, 1 mini album), created 4 sketch class layouts, put together the Jessica Sprague Stories in Hand book, made 1 mini-album gift (to be posted after it is given) and ...

<img style="display:block; margin:0px auto 10px; text-align:center;cursor:pointer; cursor:hand;width: 320px; height: 319px;" src="https://blogger.googleusercontent.com/img/b/R29vZ2xl/AVvXsEhMNBpPLMFEnyKhmf7o3ZU846sz7OcQ12rf3dctSo89NWYoL5XdEKOZAWcQX_3t9XWWRuenKcTTMKVSeid2Rbgxsmplq11LtDVp3klafZFpRem6vY772jXlJHKs8eZquA6JDNrQawEM0ug/s320/100_8555_1.JPG" border="0" alt=""id="BLOGGER_PHOTO_ID_5332103583882734466" />
That's a pretty good month, I think! Six months ago, I scrapbooked occasionally. When I had time. And everyone knows that you don't just "have" time you have to "make" time. So this month, I plan to tackle all things birthday!

**I also have page kits prepared for the January & April Challenges and plan to post some pages soon! I have been super busy lately with preparing to teach my first class :)
.Kristinhttp://www.blogger.com/profile/09313961867770737287noreply@blogger.com0tag:blogger.com,1999:blog-7507725789441451830.post-74058572565721822392009-04-29T21:56:00.004-04:002009-05-02T09:05:13.458-04:00It's Official!<img style="display:block; margin:0px auto 10px; text-align:center;cursor:pointer; cursor:hand;width: 241px; height: 320px;" src="http://3.bp.blogspot.com/_IBk9LXMmGhU/SfxFBEPcE6I/AAAAAAAAAqI/UZXck9Pz3yM/s320/100_8444_1.JPG" border="0" alt=""id="BLOGGER_PHOTO_ID_5331211943520506786" />
I am pleased to announce that I will be teaching my first class in May! This "Sketches" class will feature American Crafts' new papers and new wood flourishes from Kaiser Craft. We will complete two layouts in class, and everyone will go home with numerous additional ideas about how to use sketches!

Check out the Times to Treasure website for more information!
.Kristinhttp://www.blogger.com/profile/09313961867770737287noreply@blogger.com1tag:blogger.com,1999:blog-7507725789441451830.post-72543038826041093982009-04-22T08:18:00.004-04:002009-04-22T08:23:12.115-04:00Think Green!Today I am posting a layout I did for a magazine submission last fall (it wasn't chosen), but I thought it was fitting to post today for Earth Day!

<img style="display:block; margin:0px auto 10px; text-align:center;cursor:pointer; cursor:hand;width: 320px; height: 306px;" src="http://3.bp.blogspot.com/_IBk9LXMmGhU/Se8LmlmXyfI/AAAAAAAAAoQ/IpDpBNoL0q0/s320/100_5275_1.JPG" border="0" alt=""id="BLOGGER_PHOTO_ID_5327489641758575090" />
I used all scraps (paper & fabric) to make this layout. It is a technique I should employ more, as I always have lots of perfectly good scrap paper!

Happy Earth Day!
.Kristinhttp://www.blogger.com/profile/09313961867770737287noreply@blogger.com0tag:blogger.com,1999:blog-7507725789441451830.post-45692723271540363572009-04-19T20:12:00.001-04:002009-04-22T08:17:55.400-04:00Another Design Team PeekMy Design Team projects have finally made it to the Scrapbook Cupboard!
